Who doesn't love a free meal?
We all do right? Pigeons, Starlings and Sparrows are no different... If they can get a free meal they will!
Much the same as humans, Pigeons, Starlings and Sparrows are creatures of habit . Once a constant food source is established, they will continue to return. Alfresco dining has helped birds establish into the urban area in plague proportions... Good food equals plenty of business .

If you park in Macquarie Street in Dubbo, you'll know what we're talking about... If you park under the trees at dusk, you're in for a nasty surprise. In under five minutes, starlings can turn your car into a sewage works!
The smell and the amount of droppings that can come from one tree is incredible, worst of all the bird droppings can do serious damage to your car. Bird droppings are highly acidic and will damage the finish on your car.
Unlike mammals, birds have no bladder because they do not store liquid wastes. Birds pass their urine into a common chamber used for digestive and urinary wastes. This chamber, called the cloaca, also contains reproductive by-products. So, when a bird lets go with a "bomb" it contains white uric acid crystals and a bunch of digestive wastes like insect parts and seeds.
So if you are in Macquarie Street in Dubbo and see a car park under a tree at dusk, think twice!
5 Top tips for removing bird poo from your car:
It is important that you remove a bird dropping off your car's finish as fast as you can before it can cause any damage. Bird dropping contain uric acid and uric acid is corrosive enough to eat past a coating of wax or paint sealant and then begin to etch your car's paint.
Step 1:
First off, if the bird poo has dried out, you need to get it liquid again.
Make sure you flood the area with warm soapy water, applying a generous amount
Step 2:
Leave it to sit for about 45 seconds
Step 3:
Fold a microfibre cloth in 4 ways and try to lift the poop off, DO NOT WIPE OR SCRUB. This is because most birds will eat small stones to help grind up their food. These stones do not get digested, becoming a part of the poop on your car, so a wiping motion can create scratching. Each time you pull the cloth off, you will see the poop remnants in the cloth - don't wipe this back into the paint.
Step 4:
Keep re-applying warm soapy water if the poop mark persists on top of the paint, or f the paint has no liquid on it.
Step 5:
Once the residue is all gone, spray the area with a mist of clean soapy water and wipe it dry with a clean section of a microfibre cloth. Remember to not wipe the areas you have not sprayed, as there is a chance of creating scratches as you rub dirt or grime into the paint.

Try as they have, Dubbo Regional Council have only had temporary solutions and minimal success in the control of the issue.
The problem has caused an enormous amount of frustration to both businesses and council.

Pigeons can create extensive damage and spread harmful diseases due to the monumental amount of faecal matter produced. This story from one of our clients explains just how damaging untreated pigeon problems can be.
Our client called us to their property to inspect one of their infested sites, they were absolutely fed up with the damage pigeons were causing to their business. Pigeons were nesting in their silo and causing major problems, quite frankly, they were sick of it.
